Description

Wildlife Weekend 2022
Outdoor Fun in the Mitten
February 11-13

Come join the Michigan Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Education for our 3rd Annual Wildlife Weekend.  Hosted by the MacMullan Center on beautiful Higgins Lake, this weekend exploration of wildlife and the outdoors is the perfect getaway to escape from the blahs of winter.

For $330 ($310 for MAEOE members!), one receives six meals, two nights lodging, and an entire weekend of education about Michigan outdoors in the winter.  Outdoor explorations, indoor activities, and evenings in front of a fireplace are all part of the experience.  Arrive Friday evening and depart after lunch on Sunday so you still have time to watch a certain football game if you are interested.

A discounted rate is available for those wishing to share a room. Roommates must be agreed upon between individuals before signing up, MAEOE will not be assigning roommates due to COVID protocols.

Session 1 - Raising Winter Wild Children
Are you a teacher, parent or grandparent?  Then you know the challenges of getting kiddos OUTDOORS in winter.  MAEOE's Wildlife Weekend has you covered!  During this session we will explore unique and engaging ways for grown-ups & the kids in their lives to get outside this winter.  Get ready for adventures that will take kids beyond traditional winter fun.  We'll keep things simple, hands-on and inclusive for all skill levels and backgrounds.  Reignite your LOVE for Michigan's winter wonderland and foster that same sense of wonder in the next generation! Reminder: Wildlife Wekend is for adults only.

Session 2 - Winter: Where the Wild Things Are
Ever wonder where all the animals are during winter?  Want to go find them?  We will explore different animal's ways of coping with freezing temerpatures, frozen water, and all of the other joys of a Michigan winter.  We will go out and look for those who are still active and exlore where the rest of the wild things are.
